Life in London
Life in London for a not-quite-middle-aged gay Australian guy. Oh, the glamour of it all!

What's not to like?
Comedy gold - the new series of 'Extras' - last's night's episode had Ronnie Corbett doing lines of cocaine in the toilets at the BAFTAs - Ricky Gervais is a genius. I haven't laughed so hard for ages.
Political gold - Australian Liberal (conservative) MP Petro Georgiou, who helped draw up Australia's multicultural policy in the 1970s for the conservative government, pulls apart the Howard Government's proposed citizenship test. Hooray!
Imaginary Gold - we're off to Madrid with Damien for a four-day mini-break.

Same Old, Same Old
Great to see the Howard government spending it's increased tax take as a result of the commodities boom on tax-cuts and superannuation (pension) reform. And increasing transport spending by a 'massive' $2.4 billion , most of that going on roads. Whatever happened to a high-speed rail link along the eastern seaboard? So much for nation building and climate-change, I'm off to burn some coal and sand-bag around the house.

Love, Love, Love My Way
My lovely sister (complete with new house!) bought Paul this for his birthday. It's fantastic.
We love Claudia Karvan, and we love how dark (but in a positive way, if that makes any sense) the show is.

Commonwealth Capers
We've been watching a lot of the Commonwealth Games, especially the swimming and the Gymnastics, (purely to admire the athlete's grace and athleticism, mind you). There are two male swimming commentators on the BBC, and one of them reduces me to giggles. He keeps commenting on the male competitors with phrases like 'He's a very big boy isn't he?' and 'Look at those big, strong, pectoral muscles'. It's like listening to some homoerotic comedy sketch.
I was going to post something about the EAD (Elite Athletes with Disability) events, but what I'm prepared to say in the company of friends I'm not prepared to post in case people take it the wrong way.
